Desktop Support Intern

Department: IT Business Application
Location: Sunnyvale , CA

Desktop Support - Intern

Objective: To support business users and operations for their needs in desktop computer systems and other peripheral hardware phone, scanners, printers, faxes etc. as part of Information Systems department responsibilities. Support IT with Audit support for compliance. Minimum administration of Microsoft AD and Azure environments

Major Responsibilities:  

Essential functions/duties: 
•    Troubleshoot, repair, replace, upgrade, inventory, order and configure all IS issued hardware (PCs, laptops, mobile phones, wireless data cards, printers, scanners, fax machines, other accessories)
•    Provide technical support services for all aspects of user account setup and maintenance, system patching, antivirus, break/fix on PC and Mac devices, video conference equipment, printers/copiers, phone systems, and general IT hardware and software
•    Responsible for maintaining, configuring, and upgrading computer systems. 
•    Basic troubleshooting and escalate of network issues (i.e., DHCP, DNS, Wi-Fi, VPN, etc.)
•    Utilize approved procedures to ensure that hardware and software are deployed, implemented, and supported per company standards/policies
•    Implement automation via script and other tools to increase team efficiency
•    Diagnose and resolve application and hardware issues reported by users.
•    Deploy the latest Microsoft product updates to Windows operating systems via WSUS
•    Asset Management (manage inventory of all IS hardware & accessories)
•    Understand security standard, initiatives and implement in the job role
•    Manage VPN accounts 
•    Windows AD user and machine accounts administration
•    Setup & configure Wi-Fi wireless connections to Corporate & Guest wireless networks
•    Manage, create, update Ghost images for PCs & laptops
•    Onboard & off board all employees and contractors including backing up terminated user’s data
•    Manage repairs with hardware vendors
•    Data Migration for PCs, laptops and mobile systems
•    Evaluate & test new IS hardware & software
•    Able to perform all duties with little or no management instruction on a daily basis.
•    Remote and home-office support
•    End user training for new hires, application rollouts, etc.
•    VoIP Telephone & network port management
•    Support & setup for Employee Communications Meetings

Educational/Work Experience: 

•    Bachelor Degree in Computer Science 

•    Adobe and Scanner expertise
•    Apple iPhone
•    Hard Drive Data Recovery
•    Windows and Macintosh OS
•    Microsoft Active Directory and Azure support
•    SSL & VPN
•    Symantec Ghost
•    Symantec Endpoint Protection
•    Canon Multifunction Copiers
•    Microsoft Office Suite
•    Laptops & Desktops from Fujitsu and other vendors
