Finance & Accounting Manager

Location: Toronto, ON

  • Performs together with the Operations and Accounting team all duties associated with Banking, Inventory and Cost accounting, General Ledger, accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
  • Performs full cycle month-end close process including preparing journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
  • Prepares monthly credit card reconciliations and related journal entries
  • Prepares Financial statements and commentary
  • Hands on responsibility for Payroll, Inventory and cost accounting functions
  • Works closely with other team members to coordinate responsibilities and prioritize tasks to ensure that all key deadlines are met
  • Prepares monthly tax Journal entries and liase with tax consultants
  • Provides direction and feedback to accounting team
  • Assists in the preparation for the annual internal and external audit
  • Participates in the rollout of finance projects and initiatives
  • Identifies opportunities for efficiencies and improvements
  • Performs other duties as required
  • Owns all adhoc projects and assignments that are assigned and related to Canada entity

Qualifications and Core Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from an accredited institute or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of Canadian and/or US accounting experience.
  • Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language. Bilingual English/French a plus.
  • Advanced computer skills including ERP systems, Microsoft Office (Powerpoint, Word and Excel)
  • Proactive problem-solving/judgment skills
  • Able to communicate effectively. Attention to detail
  • Organized, proactive and self-motivated individual capable of producing results and meeting deadlines
  • Expected to manage work with minimum supervision
